Jeep CJ's of the AMC era used GM steering columns and were usually manual shift. There are several companies marketing new columns in the GM pattern. That may be more money than you want to spend, though. You can also use the original if you cut it and fabricate shafts for it, as long as you don't mind it being an impaler.
