Andy, looking for a SN anywhere other than the cowl tag is a waste of time. There are no stamped numbers on the frame or body that will be of any use in identifying the exact year of your truck. They just didn’t do it back then. The body style of your truck is Art Deco and ran from 1941 to early 1947 when the body design went to Advance Design. Since your motor has been changed and the SN tag changed I believe it is virtually impossible to determine the exact manufacture date of your truck. The information posted by Mike B and others is a very educated guess. People back in that time period swapped parts at will when something wore out or broke and at some point the engine was swapped and the SN tag altered to match. May or may not have been done legally but that’s a discussion we won’t get into. Time to move on get to work and enjoy your beautiful truck.ðŸ›

Do you think it may have been possible that Chevy may have put this engine in my truck originally? They had it left over and put it in?
Highly unlikely based on the butchered cowl tag, but I’m curious if those practices were not all that uncommon?
