Whats so strange about this is the engine runs exceptionaly well but maybe it is not a lifter? I looked at Pre '68 Dave's blog on making a groove in the end of the pushrods, maybe we will try that? I still have 2 lifters that you can push them down about an 1/8 of an inch, and my engine makes some noise around say 1500 - 1700 rpm's. it runs well also..... Maybe over the holidays I'll get out my little dremel and do a little groove grinding.
