I'm not saying others can't pipe in but this is meant to be regarding Task Force era trucks.
I've seen countless posts on this topic but most all of the posts are like 10-15 years old and even older. I've "read" that the TF trucks had a 53" seat (my truck doesn't have a seat so I can't be sure) and maybe I shouldn't worry about it but, I'm not sure I'm satisfied with the options I'm reading about. The GMT400 bench seats are said to be 60" wide so they weren't a perfect fit but a lot of people say they used them and they work well. The 70s truck benches I've seen suggested would probably be as hard as an original seat source. The suburban seats people say they use all look to be around 49" so they are closer but still like 4" small. I've also heard park avenue seats but the head rests stick up or safari van seats but all of these options were presented 10+ years ago and none of them were perfect. I can see how back in the day options were limited and people used what was available but I wonder if there are seats out there now that will put the driver more in line with the steering wheel and be a closer fit than the 20-30 year old vehicles people suggested in the past. The difference in this post from the others is to find out if any NEWER seats fit BETTER. I'm also welcome the experiences of what maybe did NOT work or explanations on why other/older seats are still the best option.
I tried doing some homework on my own but eventually I got down to the "work smarter not harder" method and decided to use the power of the people.
I'm wondering about some of these newer crossovers that weren't around 20 years ago, or maybe a "mid sized" truck, or really anything you can think of.
So far I have found that the 2012 Colorado had a 53.3" seat but I don't have one to try and haven't been able to find anyone who has posted an experience with it. Has anyone ever tried this or any other options? What were your findings? How did they look, feel, fit, function? Pictures are welcome!
