For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: May 2001 Posts: 1,904 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2001 Posts: 1,904 | My '48 had a PTO knob in the cab when I bought it and I quickly looked underneath. The workings weren't there. Dang. I was thinking of a big ice cream maker.
About 20 years ago I attended an estate auction. The deceased had gathered a big wooden box full of PTO's. The box was on a shipping pallet and would take a fork lift to load it in a truck. I had a firm commitment elsewhere and could not stay for the bidding on the PTO's. (I should have broken the commitment.) There was also a big wooden box full of old carbs. That one still really gets me. 1948 3/4-Ton 5-Window Flatbed Chevrolet 34 Years. Now with a '61 261, 848 head, Rochester Monojet carb, SM420 4-speed, 4.10 rear, dual reservoir MC, Bendix up front, 235/85R16 tires, 12-volt w/alternator, electric wipers and a modern radio in the glove box.
