WRONG! If you're using ported (timed) vacuum you're right. There doesn't need to be any vacuum on the distributor at idle, since the only function of vacuum advance is to help gas mileage at light throttle cruise RPM. As soon as any load at all goes on the engine, the vacuum goes away, and so does the advance. Go ahead and do whatever you choose- - - -at least until you're willing to listen to good advice from people who understand ignition systems.
