I'm guessing the pictures in the original post are from the kit previously offered by the Hollister Road Company?
They used calipers from a late rmodel GM 1 ton I believe. They are more robust calipers than 1/2 ton stuff from the 70's.

In my opinion a 1 ton truck should have at least 1 ton components, more braking ability is most always welcome.
