Hello gang. I was a member several years ago. Life kept me very busy. I bought my son's 1959 Chevy Apache 3100 Stepside to help him and new wife buy a home in 2000. It has sat in my shop since then.
I was a professional firefighter for 21 years. I worked at the local hospital days off and full time 37 years. I also owed a painting business for 40 years.
Yes, a workaholic! Now being retired three times I enjoyed riding H/ D for years. until June 1st 2016. Riding a $40,000 trike I got sideswiped by a car. Life lined by helicopter to Ft. Wayne, In. They called my family in and said he probably is not going to make it! Well I did but was in an induced coma for four weeks!
I am now still going. My biggest decision was by gosh I am going to finish my 1959. Full frame off restoration. Cab and front end in good shape. Replaced the bed wood and metal bed sides with new.
The 350 was junk so I replaced it with another 350 into a 383. All new parts. Hooked a 700R4 transmission to it. Got to order a driveshaft no biggie.
Installed disc brakes all the way around. New stock 15 in. wheels on mags.
All body parts was painted H/D 1996 Mystic Green. Had an Electroglide that color and loved it. Changes from dark green, dark blue, black in the sunlight.
Married a special education teacher June 1st this year. We dated off and on for four years and we decided what the heck -- life is better with than without. Besides she loves old metal and wants us to go to car and truck shows with our truck.
Did I mention Mrs. Jackie is a special education teacher LOL! I am not a nerd -- she will figure out how to post our wedding picture with the truck as a back drop in our back yard.
Growing up on a farm wrenching equipment, trucks, cars, tractors was taught to me early. My son has the same trait. Hopefully I can pop in now some, helping when I can. A little humor or knowledge from the Corncrib.
One last thing. My Dad had a new 1959 Stepside Apache 3100. He would let me drive it around the fields and down the dirt roads to the other farm. My age 9 yrs. old. Yes, us farmboy's started early!
