Keep in mind, that filter is what goes on a riding mower with a much smaller cylinder displacement. Once it gets just slightly dirty, you won't have enough air getting to the engine. You can test to find out if it is dirty by listening to the RPM when you remove it. The stock air filter flows a lot of air even when very dirty.
