I have never seen it done, but the insides of the Muncie 3 speeds are pretty much interchangeable except the main shaft is different in direct and OD. A passenger transmission through 1954 will fit your bell housing. It might be interesting to see if your Sm 319 gears might build in a 1954 or earlier case.
