I converted a brand new front door handle to fit the rear barn door quite a long time ago. I followed Achipmunks tech tip on how to perform the task. I remembered some complaints about how the rear door handle has scratched many a new paint jobs by traveling to far when turned to open door.
I had to figure out where my handle needed to stop in relation with the latch and lock mechanism.

Drilled a hole to accept an 1/8" roll pin
hole drilled and roll pin drove into place
Roll pin is about 1/4" tall on this side of latch
roll pin installed 1/4" tall
Door handle now stops before hitting the paint

About 1/4" gap between handle and paint when the handle stops turning.

Rear barn doors are on and adjusted and function like new, big step for Tater.
