At one time, car manufacturers were required to maintain replacement parts supplies for 10 years after the final production of a vehicle. That's probably been changed, since I've had difficulties ordering some replacement parts for vehicles a lot newer than 10 years old at times. "Not in stock- - - -no superceded part number".
