As I said, I think I pulled the trigger too fast. We were leaving town and I wasn't comfortable leaving it in there for 8 or 9 days. In retrospect I shouldn't have worried about it. Sad the vinegar lost its punch quickly. I was pretty hopeful that would do the trick. Strong stuff it is. Thanks again.
