I just brought home my fathers old 38 1-1/2 ton truck. The original bed was replaced at some point with one that was pilfered from a newer wrecked Ford truck. Besides being much longer than the original, all the wood is rotted out. I would like to replace it with something resembling the original but I have only found a few pictures on the internet which do not provide me with much detail. If anyone can provide me with pictures, dimensions, material info, etc., I would be very appreciative. Leads to a restorable bed would be even better.
I am also think of shortening the frame to match the short wheelbase model. Not only would it be more “cute”, it would seem more drivable and, most importantly, would fit in my garage. Does anyone have any experience or thought regarding this modification? Other than the driveshaft, it appears straightforward to me.
