For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: May 2018 Posts: 31 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2018 Posts: 31 | Hi folks.
I just signed up even though I’ve been watching the forums for some time. I just brought my fathers old 38 flatbed to Tucson from New Mexico. I got rid of all the other family “treasures” but just could not part with this one. My father brought it home from Denver when it was brand new. It worked hard hauling apples to Texas when it was new and later as a fuel truck when my father went into the dirt moving business. I have a picture of it with a D4 dozer loaded on the back! It is a wonder it survived. All the paint has been replaced by a coat of rust (but not rusted through). The truck runs and the brakes sorta work but it is far from roadworthy so my first project will simply to get it roadable.
Now that I have it home I have to decide how far to take the restoration. I’m inclined to leave it looking like a rusty old truck but get all the mechanicals in good order. These are great forums so I’m sure that I’ll find help and inspiration from the members and resources here. Thanks already! | | |
