The arms are different, this is to make up for the wrap around windsheild. if the arms were the same, you would't be able to see the right side mirror from the driver's side.
To locate the hole positions easily, take off the passenger door inner panel. At the front of the inner part of the door, just under the vent window, you will see the reinforcement panel. There will be 3 holes in it already. Use those as the guide to drill the holes. It's a little tricky to do, but you can drill them from the inside. I'd suggest drilling a 1/8" pilot hole from the inside first, then do the final drilling fron the outside.
When you get the mirrors mounted, you will see that the passenger mirror will be much further back than the driver's side, this is correct. I'll get some pix of mine and post, as soon as I gat some batteries in the camera (had to put my last 2 in the mouse! :hammering:
