Adam, don't use anything metal near your windshield. Always use plastic. As far as your windshield rubber, I wrote a tip about 55-59 Trucks. You may want to read the part about taping rubber to windshield and leave in a sunny or warm room for a few weeks before install to "train" the rubber first.
The little pry bar was just to help show the gap. It sat with the gasket installed for a few days. No tape though. If I can get the windshield out with out ruining the gasket ill try and tape it.
