UPDATE AND GETTING A MUFFLER
Turns out the ignition coil boiling was from leaving the key in while I was rooting around making room, the distributor was holding the points closed. I had to drive her to the muffler shop, sometime in the next couple days, and I lost the drive shaft bearing. It just fell out, was easy enough to put back in while it was on the lift. I've driven it around town, it's done a great job. I had to cut down some trees in the front yard, it's just like having a tractor. Finally I had the time to start taking a serious look at the engine. I've posted the results in the Engine Shop. I'll update a link as soon as it's written.
