I have an all stock 1955 Second Series 3600. I haven't had the original battery hold down on the battery for....quite awhile. Long story, but I had misplaced the stock one. I found it and painted it and am ready to install it. However, I worry (I worry a lot) that the battery clamps will wear through the paint on it and cause a short or sparks.....or worse. Surely this wasn't the case when new. How did they keep it from happening?
