That is a very interesting question and answer. In all the years I have been playing with these motors, I have always set the motor up to tdc for No. 1 and then installed the flywheel so I could see how much, if any, the bb in the flywheel was off with respect to the pointer on the bellhousing and to remark the flywheel. I never in 40 years had an occasion to install the flywheel out of phase so to speak.
