Greetings from Estill Springs, TN. I am new to the forum and am looking forward to learning from everyone here. I have a 1949 Chevrolet 3100 5 window pickup. It has an older restoration and is really in need of another one. I just picked it up in December. I'm having some trouble with getting it to run properly. After checking the engine code, I found out that it has a 1954 235 c.i. engine with a Y code, which stands for Powerglide. The truck has a four speed transmission.

The truck starts up and runs when I choke it, but after a short while it idles really rough until it finally dies out. It will not start without the choke pulled out. I checked the points and they were shot. I put new points, condenser, and plugs and it still does the same thing. I have not checked the timing on it yet. I don't know if it is timing, carburetor, or something internal.
