Those 55's are a bear, even for the experienced. I suggest using 2 ropes in the gasket. First insert 1/4in rope, then 1/8in rope. Pull the 1/4 rope first to get it started then the 1/8 rope to finish the install. Have someone on the outside slapping the glass with a gloved open hand following the rope as it's pulled.
You can use soapy water, but I use just plain glass cleaner. Easier to clean up after.
