I'm putting the bed of my pick up back together. I'm not using the wood planks but I have a pc. of 1/8" aluminum diamond plate to use. I'll build a 1"x1/2" tube frame to make up the difference of the wood thickness. I won't be hauling anything in the bed. I plan to build a "cargo box" to hold a gas tank and a battery box. Question is should I put the diamond plate the full length of the bed and mount the gas tank and battery to the diamond plate (build up of explosive gases?) or leave the cargo box open on the bottom and have a steel frame for a gas tank and battery?
