Back in Nov of 2017 the VA authorized the issuance of a Veterans ID Card to all honorably discharged Vets. The response has been overwhelming and caused a back log of applicants. I applied back then and finally received the emailed authorization to complete the application on-line. These cards can be used as your proof of service to take advantage of the various discounts many retailers and businesses now offer Vets.

Veterans ID Card You'll need to scan your drivers license (or take a pic of it and download it to your PC) so you can upload it on the site. You'll also need to have a good picture for the card.
If you don't have any type of military ID it would be well worth your time to apply and get one.
It's free and can be done all on-line. I understand one can visit a local VA to get a card too.
