I wanted turn signals so I took a wheel and turn signal mech off a 57 truck. same size column as my 53. all fits nicely except the 57 wheel is dished 4" so i had to shorten the shaft and housing. I epoxy and painted the wheel $20. Wheel and turn mech $20. local welder column work $30. I'm using electric power steering but like the look of the big wheel.
Old enough to know better, too young to resist.
