I recently purchased a rebuilt set of gauges for a 46 chevy and the spring underneath the speedo needle was not attached to the hole in the arm [where my old one is pinned with what looks like a piece of brass or copper]. Does anyone have a photo of how this is supposed to look or be attached? All I have to go by is my old speedometer. The needle will not move by turning the rear of the speedo cable housing but will move by moving with my hand. I have looked at the forum under "tech tips' but couldn't find my answer there. I removed the speedometer from the gauge cluster housing to inspect why the speedometer was way over to the right. I looked in the housing for the little pin that holds one end of the delicate spring but could not find anything. I realize it could have been repaired improperly or damaged in shipping. Tried to find repair parts in JC and FS catalogs and found nothing. Gauges and their parts, I find, are top secret. Don't know where people find the stuff to do simple or minor repairs.
