You'll still need or want a small dab of silicone sealer or similar at the corners or transitions on the 4 piece oil pan gasket set.
Right. I made the repair this week end. Pulled the pan and it was pretty dirty inside. This was a little disappointing. But after a good parts wash it was ready to paint. I took the pan down to bare metal and used a professional self etching primer. Followed be a sealer and then 3 coats of grey engine paint. The color of my choosing. From what I gather this grey color isn’t written stone and there are many right colors of grey to use.
After cleaning the block surface well enough to please anyone suffering from OCD. I used Permatex black on the block then the cork gasket. Dabbed the corners and put a thin layer on the pan too. The gaskets stuck to the block and stayed in place and the pan went in and bolted up nicely. Torquing flat head (screws) seemed odd but it seems to work so I didn’t change them out for modern hex heads.
Waited till morning to replace the oil and off to a cruise in at O’Reillys.
Thx for the help here guys,Don
