I tied off to the fender support rod brackets and with the radiator still in place, it balanced surprisingly well front to back. You'll notice from the photo that I was a little low on the driver's side. That's due to me not getting the rope to the hoist hook centered on the 2x4 I placed between the fenders. Using a single rope loop in the form of a triangle probably would have worked better to balance it side to side.
