When I did mine recently on my 53, I used a tiny bit of glue and said board with my vice to set the felt channel. The glue acted like a lube and it slid right in. Then I wrapped it with electrical tape every few inches to ensure it stayed in place and let it dry. Also, the reproductions I got from classic parts are rubber backed so they wedged in very tightly. I assume that they might hold in place by themselves without glue too. While you're at this stage check your vent window vertical seal on the vent glass. If it's shot, now is the time to replace it as you need access to the rivets that are under the window felt.
