Well, good news. It wasn't starting but I just fixed it. Hot wire to the hei was broken off at the hei bat connector due to vibration. I crimped on a new female end, connected to bat on the hei and she starts and runs now. Big relief for me!
I'm not a pro mechanic. This is a hobby and I can usually figure out basic stuff. I have some tools and I'm just interested in learning more.
Work I want to do to P10 Stepvan so I can get it on the road:
1) Rochester monojet carb needs adjusting cause it idles at 1200? Motor is an inline 6 Chevy 250 with three speed manual tranny and I think idle should be more like 600 rpm.
Other than the high idle, she starts, runs and drives now.
2) Needs new wheels and tires for better looks. I'm thinking 20 inch rims.
3) Fuel gauge or fuel sender doesn't work so I don't know how much gas I have in the tank. Not cool, need to fix that asap.
4) Need to get Virginia antique tags and insurance for it so I can drive on road
I have heat in my shop but when its real cold (30's and below) it doesnt get warm enough to work on stuff.
I don't like to be cold either, so the stepvan work can wait till a warmer day or I will volunteer to help someone else who has a toasty warm shop.
