Sorry to bring up another engine ID question but I thought I knew what I have. But while looking for parts and searching the site to make sure I order the right pushrods I'm getting confused. I have a rebuilt engine and head that was rebuilt several years ago but was never assembled and run. The casting code on the block is 3764476 which, according to Inliners.org , is a 58 - 62 235. There is no number stamped on the flat spot near the distributor which tells me (from previous searches) that it's a replacement block. The tag near the rear of the engine shows CON 3 F 29 4, which, from previous searches, is a date of June 29, 1954. This is where the confusing part comes in. Am I missing something here? (The head, by the way is cast with 3836848 and a tag with CON 9 G 5 7 (July 9, 1957?). For push rods, the master parts catalog shows 10 3/4 inches and 11 13/32 or 11 15/32 (the numbers are blurry) for the 235 (shorter: 53 -55; longer: 56 - 57). Looking at vendors, push rod sizes include 11.4740 (which converts to a touch over 11 15/32), 10.919 (which is a bit bigger than 10 3/4), 11 1/4 (for 55 - 62 235, 261 solid lifter), 10 9/16 (for 54 - 62 solid lifter). A lot of choices out there. Is there a master parts catalogue for 58 and later? The block I have has side motor mounts attached but the timing plate is drilled for a front mount. It came with a clutch etc. in the bell housing. Do I have a '54 or a 58 - 62 engine? Any insight into this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
