For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Sep 2017 Posts: 12 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Sep 2017 Posts: 12 | Hello This is Corey from BC canada. I'm new here but not new to old trucks :D I have a 46 2 ton gmc flatdeck dump and just bought a 54 gmc Dump truck The 54 had a 248 (seized and rusted) and a spare 270 (ran 4 years ago but smokes) Both engines are too far gone to be economically worth rebuilding plus I have a 72 350 small block already rebuilt for propane. I know its pretty straight forward to put the 350 into the 54and thru reading here know there are kit crossmembers and mounts to fasten it in however I am unsure what bellhousing would work best. Do I need a new flywheel or will existing one work. New clutch? exhaust manifolds to make fitting easier? Any suggestions to make this swap go smoothly or any tutorials online for guidance would be greatly appreciated... Thanks
