if you get it all together right, the wheels can't possibly move without being driven, no vibration involved - the single tabs are like a one tooth gear, when the lower number goes past 9 the tab pushes the next wheel one notch [one number], and if that wheel was on 9 and moves to zero, its tab pushes the next wheel one number higher .... you can set them all anywhere, but you need to have them all in correctly with the plates between properly, otherwise they might be advancing at the wrong time - if you've replaced the numbers without noting the correct positions of the wheels there's a good chance of problems frown
