I am having a lot of trouble getting my 1950 1/2 ton to shift. I am putting it back together after being off the road for a while. It does not seem to want to go into first gear. The shift lever does seem to lift into position but does not come down into gear. I have read many threads and I did shim my lower lower shifting fork to be closer to the top fork. That did seem to help. Prior to taking everything apart, my truck did shift pretty good as long as I was deliberate in moving the shift handle into position. I replaced the bushings and have tried adjusting the shift linkage and cannot get it right.
I have looked at the usual vendors and did not see any new shifting boxes (not sure what they are called). Does anyone know where I can find one? Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do to solve this?
