Hey Gang, First I would like to say God Bless to all our Vets today. I have my frame almost done with my new shackles coming in next week I will be moving on to starting on the engine build. I have two 248 engines, one had a cracked block but ran and one was locked up from sitting. I broke the locked up engine free, had to beat the pistons out with a oak log and sledge hammer, then took it all apart. I took the block to a local machine shop and had it cleaned and magnafluxed. The block has one cylinder that will need to be re-sleeved but otherwise is good to go. My plan is to use all the parts from the running engine in the rebuild, if they are all in good shape. I have no plans to trick out the engine just get it back to original. I will of course put in new rings, bearings and do a head job. I have found it hard to locate the front center rubber engine mount for my engine and year, 1955 2nd GMC, everything I've seen has been a two hole mount not one. One last thing before I start getting the steaks ready for the grill, this is a budget build, I had to do side jobs just for the block work so if the head needs a valve job I'll be doing it. Sorry for being so long winded it's my second cup of coffee.
