I would think the paint would still be alright, and I think that two gallons would do the rig without scrimping....my only hesitation would be using lacquer.
Many newer paints exist today, and I think they all are much more durable and easy to apply than lacquer. Even 2k acrylic enamel has lacquer beat by a mile in my book.
You have it, and it's paid for, but that still
might not be reason enough to use it
