OK..I am confusing myself..Background..I purchased the 52 over 30 years ago. Engine was shot, so I took motor out of 61 chevy car and installed in the 52. Now, I still have the torque tube drive shaft, so I am assuming I still have the 52 transmission. The number on my tranny is 591615. Would this be the truck tranny? Next, should there be a mount/support at the tailshaft? There is a brace that goes under the tailshaft, but there is no mount or support on the tailshaft. Third, I took the side cover off last night, and the 2/3 shift fork slot is badly worn. Would this be the cause of the pop out of 3rd gear, or a symptom of other problems? I know this is a long post, but I thought I would try to keep everything together. I think the date code is D280 as far as I can tell. Thanks for any answers.
