I agree on the engine. On a rural fire dept we had a 54 reo with the aluminum 1,000 gal tank. Truck wouldn't go over about 55 mph, but it would pull like there was no tomorrow. It showed no oil pressure on the gauge for years, was told that either the rear main or rear cam bearing was loose. To my amazement, they replaced it with a M135, GMC 302 and hydramatic tranny. That was a worthless pile of steel.Only thing we gained was an independent pump with a Wisconson engine.
