Run- - - -do not walk away from both of them. An original-equipment GM HEI setup is much more reliable, much less expensive, and repair parts are available at any corner parts store. If you want a small-diameter distributor housing, an electronic distributor for an early GM 2.8 L V6 can be adapted to a stovebolt very easily.
