I'm not positive but if memory serves me correctly the window is bedded in a U shaped channel & the channel is connected to the hardware that moves the window up and down? If this is correct it was common back in the day when I was a body man for find new replacement windows crack if the channel wasn't perfectly free of glass fragments from the old window when the new window was bedded in the channel. Auto glass is remarkable robust in side on contact but quite fragile along the edge. The smallest fragment of broken glass coming into contact with the edge of the glass with a surprisingly small jostle can cause new glass to crack.
