I have a question about AD pushbutton door locks.
I replaced the locks on my 53 many years ago, and something
about it has always bugged me.
When the door is unlocked, the slot is vertical. Fine.
But as original, is the straight edge of the key on top?
That is my recollection of how it was before I did the
replacement, and that was the case for both driver and passenger
sides. However, the replacement driver side lock I have in there
has the opposite - smooth part of the key on the bottom,
and that has never set well with me after using it the
original way for 20 years. If it is supposed to be
straight-edge-up, has anyone bought replacement lock sets
that have the original orientation for both driver and passenger
sides? I am assuming there is no way to adapt the one
I have to be in the opposite orientation - let me know if
I've missed something on that.
