Someone will correct me if I'm mistaken but the ho52 and ho72 are almost identical externally.ho52 was the 3/4ton and ho72 was the 1 ton axle. The 72 has the thrust adjustment on side of case. Not sure if the 52 also had this. As a side note. If you take the cover off and find the 5.14/1. Ratio gears its probably a Ho72
