I used the ignition switch hole as an extra 12v accessory port which is handy when the gps is connected. The handle hole could be a place for a wiper switch and on this 49 the throttle/choke holes are now for high beam indicator and turn signal. One light is used for both right and left just to let one know the t/s is on (like an early Falcon). These along with a Frenched in modern radio helped clear the dash of some of the "knobby" look.
