Yeah, I'm aware of the insert bearing process with 216. And if babbitt was "better" overall, there would be no such process.
But as with most things in life, there are always tradeoffs. Thought maybe this would spur some dialogue about "unsung" advantages of babbitt.
Example: part of me is intrigued by the ability to remove shims in the connecting rods. Perhaps that is an "advantage" or perhaps it's a just a band aid to account for the material wearing faster. I'm too young to have any first hand experience with one vs the other, but always eager to hear from the more...ahem...."experienced" members of the forum.
