The shank on the shouldered lug bolts centers the wheel over the studs. The flat washer on the lug does the job of holding the wheel to the drum. Uni-lug wheels fit two different lug patterns, and the shank of the lug nut simply centers on the inside or outside of the slot in the wheel. Running Uni-lug wheels is the height of stupidity. Get a wheel that fits.
