Check the ground strap . When I put my new rebuilt in my 54 it would start good when cold. Once warm would crank and no start unless pushed down the road and jumped. Turned out to be the thick ground strap from the moter to the frame . Nice shinny motor and frame freshly painted prevented proper ground.
