pre planning my 51 AD project...decided to go small block Chevy and 700R4 trans and now contemplating the Explorer rear end...anybody out there done this ? what springs did you use ? I want to lower the truck some like 3 or 4 inches so was thinking of using posies or something similar. Did you use original style springs that I believe are 1 3/4" wide ? I have never heard anyone say they used the Explorer springs so assuming they don't fit ? and what about the driveline ? did you have to have one made ? Other rear end I was thinking about is 68-74 Nova but hard to find and gear ratios are too high. Like the Explorer idea because easy and cheap to find and want the 3:73 gears. Not sure if I want to go disc or drums. would like to hear from anyone who has gone through it
