We have used a max of 72" with a 4" tube but one is tempting trouble. Absolutely a two piece for anything longer. Back in the big cars with long shafts era they used shafts with a bottle neck at one or both ends, a cardboard tube, and rubber bushings at the end to name a few ways to dampen vibrations or harmonics. A lesson learned on the 58-64 "X" frame Chevy's with the two piece shaft is to be sure and have the weight on the suspension before you tighten the hanger bearing bolts.
