Hi, I have a 54 Chevy 3100 with a 56 235 engine that stripped the teeth off of a section of the fiber camshaft gear. I removed the oil pump and pulled the rocker assembly and the cam rotated fine with the distributor and fuel pump still installed. The lifters also moved ok as well. I reinstalled the oil pump and the cam still rotated ok. My question is should I remove the head and check the pistons and valves for damage or is there enough clearance that I should be ok?
I have only owned the truck for a little less then 2 years and don't have much history and I'm some what worried that I can't find a cause for the stripped teeth.
