Ten years ago i acquired this truck. It has been parked under a roof since 1983. Rusting is pretty severe on the areas closer to the ground, including the front of the frame.

When I drug it out of the shed a few weeks ago I did manage to get it into neutral and the wheels all turn. I am assuming the clutch is engaged since I have not attempted to disengage it and the crank can be turned by hand on the front pulley. It was running when it was parked so i assume there isn't much major damage to the powertrain/driveline.

My plan is to take it completely down to the frame and build it back up, provided the frame isn't a complete loss. I have never attempted anything like this before, but I am confident I can make it happen. A man once told me you can make anything run if you have enough money. Not sure I have that much money, but hopefully I do.

Click here for the Google drive folder with pictures. I plan to take as many as possible during teardown and rebuild. My main concern at this point will be advice concerning body panel repair or replacement. Is it repairable? Should I replace with a reproduction panel or should I try to find original body panels in decent condition? Are there cheap fixes using generic pieces of metal, (bed cross sills; etc.). The mechanical side I will be alright with for the time being. I am a mechanic by trade, not an automotive mechanic, but a mechanic nonetheless. I could use some advice about where to find a legit service manual for this model truck.

Wish me luck and feel free to offer any useful advice or helpful hints.
